At a moment when book designers are wringing their hands, worried and sometimes out of work thanks to electronic media, whatever that is, one enterprising young company has chosen to celebrate book covers. Out-of-Print uses vintage book covers as designs for T-shirts, and Canio’s Books is happy to offer several styles for sale: Melville’s Moby Dick, Salinger’s Catcher in the Rye, Thoreau’s Walden and Kerouac’s On the Road. These shirts not only look great, and celebrate what may soon become a lost art, but they do community service, too.  For every shirt sold, the company donates to Books for Africa, a non-profit that supplies books to communities in need.
